Power Protection Panel (PPP)

Extend the useful life of appliances and protect from damage or loss.

The Power Protection Panel (PPP) is a custom fabricated panel that incorporates surge protection and over/under voltage protection.

Power surges happen whenever your home experiences a brief jolt of high electrical voltage. These surges can damage your outlets and fry the electronic components of appliances and electronic equipment.

Over voltage is a condition in which supplied voltage exceeds the operating voltage of appliances. When these conditions occur frequently it can cause premature failure of electrical and electronic components due to overheating. Overtime, over voltage reduces the useful life of appliances and electronics.

Under voltage is a condition in which supplied voltage is lower than operating voltage needed for appliances. Also knows as “brown out”. When appliances operate at reduced voltages, they draw higher currents. This can cause electronic components to melt down and appliances to malfunction.

How it Works

Your Power Protection Panel consists of a solid-state voltage monitor and relay module controlling an industrial grade contactor which connects your equipment to the power supply, either utility or generator.

As long as the voltage is stable, indicator lights glow green. If the voltage rises or falls out of range, the indicator light flashes red and the power to specified equipment or the whole house is cut off to protect appliances. When voltage returns to an acceptable level and remains stable for 5 minutes, power will be restored and lights will glow green.

If the voltage continues to be unstable but power is needed, a bypass switches will turn off the power protection and return power to the house.

Sizing & Costs

Depending on the model you choose, your entire electrical panel can be protected, or selected branch circuits (appliances, electronic equipment, etc.) can be connected through an optional sub-panel. Protection is provided for both 120-Volt and 240-Volt loads.  Pricing is based on service amperage.  For large residential and commercial amperage, please call for a quote.
